Palm Beach is a suburb on the Gold Coast, in Queensland, Australia. Located between Tallebudgera Creek and Currumbin Creek, Palm Beach is an area with very few natural features that enclose or set it apart from other suburbs on the Gold Coast. Palm Beach has however been voted the cleanest beach in Queensland. Subdivided in the 1950s, the subdivision is unusual in that it straddles both sides of the highway. Streets alongside the highway are named from first to twenty-eighth, starting at the southern end and terminating at the highway. Between the beach and the highway, the southern part of area, ‘Jefferson Lane’ links across multiple streets. This lane includes some of the earliest and basic Gold Coast beach ‘shacks’, some on blocks of land valued at a million dollars. Some suggest that these predate the subdivision and other remnants of an earlier settlement. Palm Beach Currumbin High School is the local high school for this area. The Gold Coast City Council operates a community lounge and public library on
